There is a lot of discussion going on in the recruitment sector as our industry moves closer to more formal registration in the form of legislated licensing for recruiters in the on-hire space in Victoria following both Queensland and South Australia. What will it mean? Well greater accountability for the sector and let’s hope, less employee exploitation…watch this space to see how this will unfold. Interestingly this may also have a very real impact on organisations who run their own bank of temporary/contract employees directly, in that they too, will need to be licensed in order to employ this temporary workforce. Should that temporary workforce exist in interstate offices, a license to operate that direct bank of temporary employees will also need to be secured for each state bearing in mind that each state requires slightly different things!!!
There are still many unanswered questions that will affect not only the recruitment sector but have much broader implications to our clients directly if they hire temporary employees outside of an agency supplier model. Watch this space for more updates
