The Power Of First Impressions | Weekly Wrap Up

Rusher Roger’s weekly wrap-up report on what’s happening in the world of Rusher Rogers, our clients, our candidates and the recruitment market.

First impressions really stick with you don’t they?  We all know the importance of making the right first impression in an interview situation, and certainly when we meet a potential new client for the first time…it can be make or break.  So first impressions after our first week settling into our new CBD based offices have really leapt out.  For a start the sheer number of people out and about, the shopping (obviously), the commute is sooooo much easier and less stressful…thanks PTV, the noises are different and everything is a short walk away.  But the one shocking thing that has struck us all has been the number of regular homeless people we see clearly living on Melbourne’s pavements.  We just weren’t exposed to it in South Melbourne on a day to day level. We work with many organisations where homelessness is their number one focus and this week has really brought home the importance of supporting these organisations as much as we can.

Supporting Share the Dignity, a great NFP charity that provide personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries to homeless women, women at risk or women experiencing domestic violence. Their Christmas fundraising campaign #itsinthebag is an easy and meaningful way to give back. It couldn’t be easier to get involved…follow #itsinthebag to find out how and stay posted for an update from us!

We are also getting involved with Sacred Heart Mission, volunteering at their Christmas wrapping stations which are located in various sites around the CBD, but they need more volunteers!!! Here are the locations and dates that Sacred Heart Mission need volunteers for:

Monday 18 December – Melbourne Central Tower, and 530 Collins Street (2 locations)

Tuesday 19 December  – Melbourne Central Tower, and 530 Collins (2 locations)

Wednesday 20 December  – Melbourne Central Tower, 530 Collins, 8 Exhibition Street, Cnr Bourke and William (4 locations)

Thursday 21 December – 8 Exhibition, Cnr Bourke and William (2 locations)

All the shifts are from 11am until 3pm, but if people are only able to do part of that, please still contact Sacred Heart Mission as they will match them with others.

And that is literally a wrap!
