This week saw the Fair Work Commission deliver its annual wage review. The new rates will apply from the first full pay period commencing after 1 July 2017:
It’s always interesting to get feedback from candidates around their interview experience dealing with Rusher Rogers, and while we try to accommodate all needs we are not successful with everyone. We value any insights candidates can give us as to their experience, the good, the bad and the ugly. This is how we learn and grow. We recognise that we are not perfect and cannot please everyone but we will give it a red hot go!!
Just today an executive level candidate whom I was interviewing was struck by the fact that we interview out from behind a desk! Huh? That is, our interview set-up is just a couple of chairs and a small low level round table. Why is this so important? It’s all about impressions and setting up an environment of open exchange where parties feel comfortable to share their experiences without being intimidated by a formal set-up and yes, that even comes down to sitting across a desk from someone. It’s amazing the impact that even small things make to peoples’ demeanor and their level of comfort in what can be a stressful and nerve wracking experience…the dreaded interview.
Of course you can get the other extreme, where people become way too comfortable. I had another situation where a candidate slurped their takeaway coffee and responded to their phone texts throughout the interview….needless to say that was one of my shorter interviews!
