Rusher Roger’s weekly wrap-up report on what’s happening in the world of Rusher Rogers, our clients, our candidates and the recruitment market.
This week has been a week of extremes…hello, the weather??!!! For us, it started with a theft and is ending with what sounds like an apocalyptic weather forecast…apparently our new hood (cnr of Elizabeth and Little Collins St) used to be a creek and may well return to its former state later this afternoon (perhaps more of a river if we are to believe the predictions).
However it was the sheer bold audacity of the burglar who decided we were his next target that gave us a bit of a wake-up call around our office security. I have to say that everyone (with the exception of the people at AMEX) was phenomenally helpful, particularly the police officers from Melbourne East Police Station…a big thank you to them as the end result was a wallet returned within two hours of the offence (minus the credit cards of course). What a way to introduce ourselves. On the upside we now know everyone in our building!
The impact of so much homelessness on our CBD streets has impacted me very personally this week. We are really happy to be supporting Share the Dignity, an NFP charity that provide personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries to homeless women, women at risk or women experiencing domestic violence. As I mentioned in last weeks wrap, their Christmas fundraising campaign #itsinthebag is an easy and meaningful way to give back. It has actually been a really personal (and rewarding) experience to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and think ‘What would I love to receive? What would make me feel special?’ Everyone deserves to feel special and it fantastic to get behind these organisations that are actually making a difference.
There are 85,000 homeless women who need your help this Christmas, and this is one such way to do something for them in a way that’s needed most.
