A stellar week, so much going on. We participated in Guide Dogs Vic Trivia Night last Thursday evening and discovered that, as a team we performed surprisingly well across the generations, without resorting to Google…who knew?? So buoyed by our success (OK we came in at number 10 out of about 17ish teams) we have been bitten by the trivia bug and have already signed up for another one!!
We followed this fun evening with our annual conference. An all-day affair held off-site with Nigel Harse, Director of Staffing Industry Metrics, kicking us off for a day full of reflection and forward planning, finishing off with a slap-up meal at Spice Temple. Thank God for weekends!
Fun Fact from Nigel: In 18 months Millennials (those born from 1981 to 1996), also known as Gen Y, will make up a third of the workforce. In 6.5 years this generation will make up 75% of the workforce. The message is loud and clear, we need to understand this generation, because chances are we will reporting to them before long!
Perm job flow continues to pour through our door. This week we received a couple more HRBP roles together with two specialist Family Violence positions based on the Mornington Peninsular as well as an entry level service desk role with one of our long term engineering clients. The week was punctuated with a certain persons birthday celebrations (thanks once again) and the Boot has finally come off for good!!
The team ended the week with another great wellness workshop enthusiastically delivered by wellness guru, Tracey Wright from Take Shape. This session covered off exercise in the office and busted more than a couple of nutrition myths that we have all been holding onto for way too long!
Steve and I attended the fabulous Pharmacy Guild Gala Ball on Saturday night, celebrating their 90th year. The focus of this glamorous event was to raise money for the Mirabel Foundation. It was certainly a ‘Who’s Who’ occasion with both the sitting and opposition health ministers attending. The night was MC’d by the very entertaining Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann, the Guild’s CEO, Allan Crosthwaite, set the scene and we heard a couple of heart-wrenching accounts from Mirabel’s founder and CEO, Jane Roe together with an impactful speech from one of their Carers. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
A big call out to specialist professionals in the area of Family Violence, Mental Health and AOD whom may be interested in making a move. Contact me if this is you!
