A Little Bit of History | Weekly Wrap Up

Fun Fact

One of our lovely clients Alison from Green Energy Trading shared this little piece of history:

“In the early 1950’s when my dad first moved to Melbourne as a teacher he used to frequent a very ‘swish’ continental café called The Hoddle which sold ‘European food’ . He always fondly remembered this foray into the delights of Italian culture.

As it happened, I was telling an old Jane Franklin Hall colleague (who was a Melb boy and he married a Melb girl- Virginia Borgese) – anyway, Virginia told me it was her grandparents’ café and she got me an original menu from her family archives and gave it to me and I had it framed for dad.

It was at 330 Lt Collins St – in the basement, I believe – right below where you are now”
