Great to be back after a short break and always difficult to shake holiday mode and get back up to speed with the cracking pace that Team RRHR have been operating at.
An enormous thank you to the team for making my birthday such a lovely one.
We also held our 5th CTC event last night for the year which was another great success made so by those accomplished HR professionals who attended. There were some very interesting conversations around the table of 6 including a discussion about how technology has impacted HR and the recruitment and selection process, raising the question as to whether that has been a good thing or not. Has it made us more effective in getting the right people to interview, has it made us more efficient or has it just created more work. Talking about key word searches (KWS) turned the conversation to the fact that some outplacement services have apparently been providing word search ‘hacks’ to ‘game’ the initial technology KWS screen when applying for positions suggesting to applicants to cut and paste the job advertisement on to the back of their resume cover sheet in order to maximise their selection when the technology screen conducts its KWS just to name one. So how effective are those technology screens if this is happening? I believe that while technology assists with volume, it is definitely at the expense of talent. Nothing beats talking to people.
All-in-all a successful evening and an enormous thank you to Ash and the team at Hercules Morse who always look after us so well!!
